Our roasted green tea powder contains no additives and is made from 100% Japanese Organic Certified (JAS) green tea.

Roasted green tea is made by roasting over high heat, which gives it a savoury and clean taste.
The tea is therefore brown in colour and tastes lighter and fresher than other teas such as sencha and bancha, with less astringency and a lighter, fresher aroma and taste, as the bitter components (tannins) have been removed.

Because hojicha is roasted at a higher temperature, it has less caffeine (bitterness) as well as amino acids (umami) and catechins (astringency) than sencha. As it is fragrant and refreshing, it is recommended after a fatty meal or before bed.

Hojicha has a savoury aroma and a crisp taste that anyone can easily drink. In recent years, hojicha has become more accessible with various hojicha drinks and food such as hojicha lattes and sweets using hojicha. These days, cafés have developed so many hojicha menus and recipes that they can rival match matcha.
