Our organic Genmaicha is a richly-flavoured Japanese green tea made by mixing roasted rice with Sencha(煎茶) and Bancha(番茶). Before being blended with the tea, the rice is steeped in water and steamed then, roasted at a high temperature, and the popped rice stands out amongst the tea leaves.
Genmaicha allows you to enjoy the nutty flavour and the special savoury fragrance of the roasted rice together with the refreshing taste of Sencha or Bancha. It has a light yellow water colour and is mild to drink. The taste is nutty and has a subtle aroma of roasted rice. Roasted rice helps to bring out the sweetness in taste while reducing the amount of Sencha and Bancha used; therefore, it has less caffeine than a regular cup of tea, and is recommended for children and the elderly.
Our brown rice green tea contains no additives and is made from 100% Japanese certified organic (JAS) green tea.
