 how to brew bancha

WOOD FIRE SAN-NEN FULL MOON BANCHA / 薪火三年満月番茶

The leaves, stems and branches of tea trees that have grown without being plucked for more than 10 years are harvested on the full moon day of winter, crushed and then roasted over a wood fire without steaming the stems and leaves separately.

It reduces the caffeine and tannin content to give a smoother taste.

It truly is a tea you should try if you have not.The key to brewing this fantastic tea is to brew it in a way that the aroma is unleashed to the max!

Quick Guide

Step 1: Add the tea leaves into a pot with fresh water

Pour 1L of water in a pot and add 6-9g of tea leaves into the pot.

Step 2: Boil the water

Bring the water to a boil, and then with low heat, keep boiling for 15min. For Bancha, the best way to extract the nutrients as much as possible is to infuse it with high temparture water (100℃). This will help unleash the great aroma that comes out of the roasted green tea.

This allows the umami to come out while containing the astringency of the green tea.

Step 3: Serve and enjoy!

Pour the tea into your favourite tea cup and enjoy!!

Alternative way to drink this tea

Boil 1L of fresh water in a pot first and add 6-9g of tea leaves into the pot. Put a lid on the pot and steam for more than 30min.
